Garland High School...
A Tradition of Excellence
In keeping with the tradition of
excellence at Garland High School, Dr. Bob Price recently installed
an "Academic Wall of Fame." Through research and
the assistance of the Alumni Association, Dr. Price found the names
of all Valedictorians and Salutatorians from 1903. The names
of these students and year they graduated are memorialized on tiles
and displayed in the commons area.
Beginning with the 2000 graduating
class, a new tile will be placed each year honoring the top ten
graduates. This annual project will promote excellence and
preserve the history of this school.
In addition to the "Academic
Wall of Fame," there are approximately 1000 bricks lining the
walls of the hallway which display names of former students and
also reflect the school's accomplishments. Above the engraved
bricks are photographs of graduating classes dating back to 1926.
This display of tradition is a wonderful tribute to a proud and
active school.
The engraved brick program is a great
way to honor others and preserve history, but the benefits do not
end there! The program is a phenomenal fundraiser for any
school program.
