Cedar
Creek Library, Cedar Creek, TX...
Brick & Tile Fund Raising Program
In
1998 a special fundraising project was initiated at The Library
at Cedar Creek Lake in Seven Points, Texas.
Prior to the completion of the new library building, the
board of directors started a publicity campaign to sell commemorative
bricks and tiles to area businesses, individuals and organizations.
The building was completed in December, 1999, and in August,
1999, the first installation was completed.
The sale of engraved bricks and tiles to be laid in the entrance
courtyard was a big hit and continues as an on-going fundraiser
for the library.
The
Library at Cedar Creek Lake has experienced incredible growth since
moving into the new facility.
In 2000, 10,000 people visited the library.
In 2003, we served over 86,000 visitors, and we are anticipating
over 100,000 visitors in 2004!
Each brick and tile purchased provides operating funds for
the library - funds needed to insure that excellent programs and
services continue to meet the area's ever-expanding educational
and cultural needs.
In
September, 2001, a special courtyard area surrounding the flagpole
was designated a "Veteran's Memorial" and, to
date, 142 bricks and 3 tiles have been purchased by family and friends
of veterans who served and are currently serving in our armed forces.
As with all our brick and tile orders, our friends at Brick
and Stone Graphics have worked with us to provide individual armed
service emblems and other special requests for our patrons.
Everyday,
patrons, volunteers, out-of-town visitors and our veterans are seen
visiting their bricks and reading the messages of others.
The courtyard has not only enhanced the architectural
value of the library, but provides a "must see" stop for area visitors.
In
the 4 years since the first installation we have sold 678 bricks
to patrons, volunteers and attendees at library fundraising events.
Twenty-seven tiles of various sizes have also been laid.
To date, over $21,000
has been raised for The Library
at Cedar Creek Lake.
With
the continued growth of the library, and the increased need for
operating funds, the brick and tile program is more important than
ever. In January, 2004,
sales efforts will be increased and with it, the area for installation
will expand to walkways surrounding the library.
The support of the staff at Brick & Stone Graphics, from
promotion and marketing to individual attention to special orders,
has been wonderful. This
project is truly a gift to the library and the community.
We look forward to working with our Brick & Stone Graphics
family for many years to come.
