The Prayer Garden at the First Baptist Church in
Lancaster, Texas was developed and built in the Spring of 2005.
It was our second project using engraved bricks. The first project
honored our church's 135th anniversary. We had the names of former
pastors engraved on bricks which now surround the Texas Historical
Commission Marker and original church bell.
The Prayer Garden project began in 2004, and we sold engraved bricks
for $50 each to church and community members. The garden is located
between the main building and the chapel with beautiful stained
glass windows reflecting on the area. The project was funded by
the sale of commemorative bricks and donations, and the area is
used for individual reflection, prayer and church events, including
weddings, receptions and concerts. On the weekend of December 3,
2005, the garden will be a gathering place for the community's annual
Christmas Lantern Stroll.
We have already begun selling bricks for the third project which
will begin in the Spring of 2006. We will be adding another area
of engraved bricks and tiles. |
