American
Cancer Society - Denton Relay for Life Raises Over $10,000
Relay
for Life volunteers sold $10,000 worth of bricks as a fundraiser
for the American Cancer Society and plan to sell even more this
year!
We were trying to determine a good fundraiser for our Wizard of
Oz theme—so we decided to sell bricks “In Memory Of”
and “In Honor Of” those affected by cancer and create
a “celebration brick road.” The ideas kept rolling,
and we talked with several hospitals about permanently placing bricks
after the 2005 Relay. North Texas Hospital graciously agreed to
do this. I went to the Denton American Cancer Board, and got permission
to open this fundraiser to all the 2005 teams. I then contacted Missy Woodard at Brick & Stone Graphics, and
together we built this into a memorable garden pathway for all.
Missy and the others at Brick & Stone Graphics were helpful,
patient, encouraging, and very generous with their time! They made
the project a total pleasure. We are very excited about the brick pathway constructed with benches
on both sides. It was just as I imagined it, where anyone can sit
and reflect, 24/7, 365 days a year. Collectively, we sold 450 bricks, raising $10,000 for the Denton
Relay for Life 2005!
